12th-Nov-2009 10:40 pm - Misinterpretation.
Author: sorcha425

Rating: PG

Characters: Ten, Donna

Spoilers: Nothing really, as long as you know Donna's on board for Series 4 and you've seen the Pompeii episode.

Synopsis: Let's pretend Donna never quite believed the Doctor's "Partners In Crime" statement about needing a mate, not needing to mate.

"He rand his hands through his hair and resisted the urge to bang his forehead on the door. Hadn’t they already been in this pickle?"
12th-Nov-2009 09:03 pm - Heart of the TARDIS Part XII
Title: The Heart of the TARDIS

Charaters
: Mostly 10 (but all 11 Doctors do get represented), TARDIS and Jack - Martha plays a role as well and others make appearances.

Summary:
The TARDIS finds a new way to communicate with the Doctor - and everyone else. But her greatest discovery might lead to her biggest disaster.

Warnings:
angst, I'd rate this as "teen" due to some graphic descriptions of injuries and mentions of "adult themes." Spoilers: DW through Planet of the Dead and Torchwood through CoE Day 5

A/N:
Please note that I only count what has aired on telly as canon (IE: Books, Radio Plays, Who Cartoons, deleted scenes etc. don't count as canon to me. Blame it on the fact that I'm in the US and just didn't have the same access to the Whoniverse growing up.)

Disclaimer:
The BBC owns DOCTOR WHO, TORCHWOOD and associated known characters/images. I own Cridhe as well as unrecognizable places, situations and experiences. I've done this for pure enjoyment, but should the beeb ever want them, I'd not be opposed to getting some royalties. This has been archived on Teaspoon in a more "Fanfic" style. The style presented here is more book style. But, I'd really like to get some feedback, so thought I'd post it here as well.

If you wish more manageable sections to read, see Teaspoon and an Open Mind

Part the Twelth
Warning: Hints to suicidal thoughts

Table of Contents (earlier parts)
12th-Nov-2009 08:18 pm - Speaking of companions....
I rewatched School Reunion recently, and a question occurred to me that always pops up when I watch that ep: how often, in canon, DOES the Doctor reference previous companions? I can think of a few instances:

Pyramids of Mars: Mentions Victoria

Tooth and Claw: Uses 'James MacCrimmon' as an alias. ♥

Curse of Fenric: Uses the names of a series of companions as his talisman of faith. Aww.

...I reckon there might be others but I can't think of any. Can you folks? Audio books and other extended universe as well, by all means. :D

12th-Nov-2009 05:53 pm - It's been a rough day.
So, mostly for myself, but also for anyone else who needs it, a dose of fluffy kitty tummy goodness:

I have no idea what we'll do when he outgrows the shelves on his kitty tree, but for now it's adorable the way he sort of spills over the edges. :D

Hello, all! The wonderful wizefics has asked me to do some PR about the annual Holiday Recathon that happens over at that journal. We need people to come and get in the spirit of the season by reccing some great fics for fellow fans. There are a few fandoms involved, but, most importantly, we'd like to see a lot of Who fics.

Follow the link for all the info and reccing fun!

Chapter Summary: Rose faces a test with her new abilities. The Doctor takes her for chips and Rose finally brings up a touchy subject.

His laughter echoed in the room and Rose couldn’t help but laugh with him. He stopped their movement and gazed down at her happily. “I missed your laughter,” he said quietly. “It’s good to hear it again.”

She smiled and stuck her tongue in the corner of her mouth. “It feels good to laugh again.”

Notes augmented

We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!

Product tweaks and bug kill

  1. In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
  2. If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
  3. The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
  4. If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
  5. If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
  6. Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)

New FCK fixes rich text editor!

  1. We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
  2. When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
  3. RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
  4. An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
  5. The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers

LiveJournal Cares

We’re pleased to introduce you to [info]lj_cares, a new LiveJournal community dedicated to raising awareness and funds for U.S. charitable organizations that improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Each month, we’ll spotlight a nonprofit that is making a significant global impact through medical research, public outreach, and/or humanitarian social programs. Charities will be selected in accordance with the U.S. calendar of national health observances based on a high rating (of over 60%) on Charity Navigator and global scope of impact.

In this, our inaugural month of November, we will celebrate national adoption month by offering a charitable virtual gift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that saves the lives of orphans with life-threatening diseases and places them in loving homes around the world. LiveJournal will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of charitable vgifts (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit [info]lj_cares and read about how they helped save Baby Kang and the Rainbow Twins from fatal illnesses, who are now thriving in nurturing families. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries gifts in the Virtual Gift shop.

12th-Nov-2009 01:36 pm - Dreams
Adults dream off and on, for a total of about an hour and half to three hours every night. The average person has about 1,460 dreams a year.

Scientists suggest that the dreams of fetuses are mostly composed of sound and touch sensations, given the lack of visual stimuli in the womb.

Elias Howe (1819-1867) said one inspiration for his invention of the sewing machine came from a nightmare he had about being attacked by cannibals bearing spears that looked like the needle he then designed.

Falling dreams typically occur at the beginning of the night, in Stage I sleep. These dreams are often accompanied by muscle spasms, called myoclonic jerks, and are common in many mammals.

In general, pregnant women remember dreams more than other populations. This is largely due to the extreme hormonal changes during pregnancy.

The quality of dreams depends, at least in part, on the stage of sleep in which the dreams occur. Dreams during REM tend to be more bizarre and detailed and have story lines. Dreams in stages 1 and 2 of sleep are simpler and shorter. Deep-sleep dreams tend to be diffused and may be about nothing more than a color or emotion.

12th-Nov-2009 08:08 pm - Random question
This may seem strange but I was told by my Nan that I used to watch Doctor Who when I was around 4, 5 or 6. I do have some vague whovian memories I cannot place but I still have no idea what I would have watched assuming she was right. This would place the episodes around the time of the 30th Anniversary (1991-1994?) and I would only have had terrestrial. Does anyone know what episodes if any I would have watched?
